Finding My Path: A Journey Through Loss, Healing, and Transformation

Life has a way of calling us back to ourselves. Sometimes, that call is gentle—a whisper in the wind, a quiet nudge in the right direction. Other times, it is a storm that shakes the very foundation of everything we know. My journey into mindfulness, meditation, and healing was born from the latter.

A Deep Connection to My Roots

I was born with the blood of the Amazon running through me, a lineage rich in wisdom, resilience, and deep spiritual connection. My father was my direct link to this heritage. He carried the stories of our ancestors, the knowledge of our family’s past, and the unspoken strength that runs through generations. He was my grounding force, the one who reminded me where I came from.

But in 2014, our world shifted. My father was diagnosed with lung cancer, and the next two years would become the most painful and transformative years of my life.

The Weight of Loss and Caregiving

When illness strikes a loved one, time moves differently. Days stretch long, filled with doctor’s appointments, medication schedules, and the emotional weight of witnessing someone you love fade. I became my mother’s helper, the primary caregiver alongside her, balancing the needs of my father with the demands of life.

At the time, I was working in corporate marketing—fast-paced, high-pressure, and demanding. The stress of that environment, combined with the emotional toll of my father’s illness, began to unravel something within me. My emotions were heavy, my body exhausted, my mind constantly racing. I felt disconnected from myself, from my purpose, from the deeper knowing that I had always sensed but had never truly explored.

In 2016, my father took his last breath. I was 29. And in that moment, something within me shattered.

Rebuilding Through Healing

His death reprioritized my entire life. I could no longer pretend that the corporate grind, the societal expectations, or the surface-level existence I had been maintaining were enough. Grief forced me into stillness, and in that stillness, I began to hear something new—an invitation to heal, to reconnect, to remember. But it yet wasn’t the time that I would travel inward to access the healing I so deeply needed.

I stepped away from my full-time corporate job, transitioning into part-time work until I finally left that world altogether for two years. What happened next was yet another life experience leading me to the year 2020, that added to the reasons why I would so desperately needed to heal, to begin this journey that my ancestors would lay out for me. I’ll share that story in another post.

Fast forward to 2020. It was then where I sought out the practices that would become the foundation of Good Vibes Wellness: meditation, mindfulness, ancestral connection, breathwork, and self-exploration. I traveled inward, listening to the pain, the lessons, and the wisdom grief had to offer. And in that process, I discovered that healing is not about erasing pain—it’s about learning to sit with it, honor it, and transform it.

A Call to Your Own Healing

Healing is a journey, not a destination. It requires us to look inward, to confront the parts of ourselves that feel broken, and to nurture them with care. My path was forged through loss, but yours may begin somewhere entirely different. Maybe it’s stress, anxiety, past trauma, or simply a feeling of being lost in the noise of everyday life. Wherever you are, your healing is valid. Your journey is waiting.

I invite you to explore your own path to healing. To find clarity in stillness, strength in reflection, and transformation in mindfulness. Whether through meditation, ancestral reconnection, or simply taking a moment to breathe deeply, your journey to a clearer, more intentional life begins with a single step.
